1. When is the Clerk/Treasurer's office Open?

Monday thru Thursday 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Closed 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Daily for Lunch

1. When does the Town Board hold their Regular meetings?

Town of Phelps Board Meetings take place the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6 PM at the Phelps Community Center in the White Pine Board Room.

2. When and where is the Annual Meeting held?

The Annual Meeting is held the third Tuesday of April at 7 PM. Location of the Annual Meeting is the Phelps Community Center at 4495 Town Hall Road.

1. Where do I pay my property taxes?

Full payments and first installments are paid at the Town Office in the Phelps Community Center until January 31st. Late payments and second installments are paid at the Vilas County Treasurer's Office.

2. Does the Town accept credit card payments?

Credit Card payments are accepted for real estate tax payments. There is an additional fee.

1. Where do I get a fire number?

Fire numbers can be obtained from Vilas County. Please note that a fire number will not be issued until: (1) the driveway permit has been obtained from the town, if required, and (2) an actual structure is being erected. Vilas County New Address Application

2. What type of building permits do I need?

Contact the Vilas County Zoning Department at (715) 479-3620 or visit the Vilas County Courthouse in Eagle River. County Website is: vilascountywi.gov

3. How do I get a driveway permit?

Application for a driveway permit must be filled out and returned to the Clerk/Treasurer in the Town Office at the Phelps Community Center with a payment of $75.

1. How can I rent a town facility?

Please complete the following form and send to the Town Office at the Phelps Community Center with your deposit. Reservation Form for the Community Center or for the Town Park

1. Where is the Recycling/Transfer Center and when is it open?

4351 DNR Vista Lane (off Strong Road) Winter Hours: The Saturday after Labor Day up to, but not including, the Saturday prior to Memorial Day – Saturday 9 am to 12 noon. Summer Hours: Saturday prior to Memorial Day thru Tuesday after Labor Day – Tuesdays 12 pm to 3 pm & Saturdays – 9 am to 2 pm

1. Where do I register to vote?

You can register to vote up until the Friday before the election at the Town Office in the Phelps Community Center, at myvote.wi.gov, or on Election Day at the polling place.

2. How do I obtain an absentee ballot?

You can request an absentee ballot on myvote.wi.gov or make a request to your municipal clerk in writing, electronically, or in person (starting 14 days prior to an election) using the Application for Absentee Ballot or statement containing all the information required on the form. Additional information regarding absentee voting can be found at myvote.wi.gov.
